What if psl goes open source?

The source to the client could be released, people could improve on it. Tournaments could still happen.

I am sure a lot of people would be interested. Sure it would be a mess at the begining but it would be a lot of fun too.
Intead of one psl we could have...
PSL America - servers located in america
PSL europe and PSL Asia.

I think it could be fun. It is better than psl being stored in a cold and dark basement.

we had that server idea for sdmc, but who pays a server in the us, asia and eu just for a league/tournament?

Thanks for all the good times and hard work with the PSL! Too bad it ends.

Still, couldn't you recruit new high profile admins and maintainers from some of the clans to take the work off you? I presume some people would be interested in running and maintaining PSL if the workload could be shared. This way you guys could stay involved by assuming the role of 'benevolent dictators' and not lose your vision of what PSL should be and have more time for yourselves.

For servers, ask for donations, use flattr or find sponsoring.

Thomas, about going opensource, it would be like linux against windows. Who is opensource? Who is more secure?

Somethine else. Instead of monthy, PSL could be every 3 months, 6 months or once a year.

been away for about 6 months, and come back to find this.
don't know what happened, but obvi he's got his reasons.
I say support him in his decision, and thank him for what he did.
if someone wants to take up the torch and continue on a new path
i'm sure he'd help in the background .........

Actually, an opensource "anticheat" client just can't exist. It's not a matter of being in favor or against opensource. The very same second you make a client opensource, you allow it to be modified.

thats horrible. Without the league a classic is torn apart from the sauer community. Its not the same anymore.
